Route 48 Early Access launch: what is in the game now

Route 48 is now available in Early Access on Steam. It launched on October 12, 2026, for Windows PC. This post explains what is in the game today, what we plan for the full version, and how you can send us your feedback.
What is Route 48?
Route 48 is a first-person driving survival game. We are HOLY STUDIOS, an independent game studio. We are the developer and the publisher of the game. The tagline of the game is: "The world is gone, but the road goes on."
You drive into a procedurally generated open world. Every new game generates a new world, with different roads, towns, forests, loot locations, and encounters. So each journey is different.
What you do in Route 48
Look after your car
You scavenge for fuel and parts. You manage your fuel, repair damaged parts, and make sure that your car continues to run. A broken vehicle can mean the end of your journey. If that happens, you can continue on foot.
Search abandoned buildings
You search abandoned buildings for food, weapons, ammunition, medical supplies, fuel, and valuable equipment.
Fight or avoid
You face zombies, which the game calls "the infected", and armed hostile survivors. You fight them with guns, in first person. You decide when to fight, when to avoid danger, and when to get back on the road.
Explore
You explore abandoned places, highways, forests, and hidden locations.

What is in Early Access now
Here is what the Early Access version has today:
- The full core gameplay loop
- An endless procedural world
- Driving and vehicle maintenance
- Guns and an inventory system
- Survival combat against zombies and armed survivors
What is planned for the full version
These are our plans for the full version:
- More vehicle parts and customization
- More firearms
- More procedural biomes
- More types of zombies and hostile survivors
These are plans, and they can change during development.
How long Early Access will last
We plan Early Access for approximately one year. During this time, player feedback will shape three main areas:
- The vehicle physics
- The procedural generation
- The gunplay balance
Will the price change?
We plan to increase the price moderately as major features arrive. If you buy during Early Access, you keep the game and get its updates as development continues. If you are new to this model, our guide to what Steam Early Access is explains how it works.

How to send feedback and bug reports
Send your feedback and bug reports in the Route 48 discussions on Steam. A clear report helps us find a problem faster. Include these details:
- Write what happened, and what you expected to happen.
- List the steps that cause the problem.
- Give your Windows version, CPU, graphics card, and RAM.
- Add a screenshot or a short video if you can.
We want to hear about the three areas above most of all. Tell us how the car feels to drive, how the procedural world feels to explore, and how the guns feel to use. If you also want to write a Steam review, our guide on how to write a helpful Steam review gives you the steps.
