Games like Car Mechanic Simulator let you take a machine apart, find the broken part, and make it work again. This list goes from calm garage sims to survival games where a bad repair can end your run. Each entry says what you repair and what is at stake.

First: more Car Mechanic Simulator

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 comes from Red Dot Games and PlayWay. You repair, test, paint, tune, and rebuild cars, and you grow a garage business. You can also buy cars at auctions, look for barn finds, and build a project car from a rusty shell.

Red Dot Games also has a Steam page for Car Mechanic Simulator 2026. When we wrote this post, it was not out yet. But a single-player demo is on Steam. If you only want more of the same series, add it to your wishlist.

If you want something different, read on. We put the games in order of pressure, from calm to deadly.

Route 48 (our game)

Full disclosure: we made Route 48, so we put it first.

Developer: HOLY STUDIOS. Released: Early Access since 2026. Players: Single-player.

What you repair: Damaged parts of your car, with fuel and parts that you scavenge.

What is at stake: Your journey. A broken vehicle can mean the end of it, but you can continue on foot.

Route 48 is not a garage sim. It is a first-person driving survival game, and the repairs happen in a hostile world with zombies and armed survivors. It is in Early Access now.

Wrench

Developer: Missing Digit. Released: Early Access since 2018. Players: Single-player or online co-op (beta branch).

What you repair: Race cars. Wrench is a mechanic simulator for motorsport, with a very high level of detail down to each fastener.

What is at stake: Only your time. You prepare cars in a shop, with no survival pressure.

There is no automatic inventory, so you must track every part yourself. The game has three chassis: one hatchback and two licensed kit cars. It also has an optional VR mode. Choose Wrench if you want more detail than Car Mechanic Simulator gives you.

Car For Sale Simulator 2023

Developer: Red Axe Games. Released: 2024, after Early Access from 2023. Players: Single-player or multiplayer.

What you repair: Used cars and motorcycles. You repair, maintain, repaint, and customize them.

What is at stake: Your money. Sellers do not always tell the truth about a car, so you can pay for an inspection report before you buy.

This is the closest match to the business side of Car Mechanic Simulator. You also manage your dealership, the bank, and taxes. It suits players who liked the car auctions more than the work orders.

Mon Bazou

Developer: Santa Goat. Released: 2025, after Early Access from 2021. Players: Single-player.

What you repair: A worn-out vehicle. You install the parts yourself and, over time, make it a race car.

What is at stake: Your daily life. You need money from side jobs such as firewood, maple syrup, and pizza delivery.

Mon Bazou takes the project-car idea out of the garage and into a town in Quebec. There is a scrapyard for parts, and characters with quests.

My Summer Car

Developer: Amistech Games. Released: 2025, after Early Access from 2016. Players: Single-player.

What you repair: A car and its engine, which you build from hundreds of loose parts.

What is at stake: Everything. You need food, drink, and sleep, and death is permanent. The car must also pass an inspection.

My Summer Car is a big step up in difficulty from Car Mechanic Simulator. Read our list of games like My Summer Car if you like this step up.

Jalopy

Developer: Minskworks. Released: 2018. Players: Single-player.

What you repair: An old Laika 601 Deluxe on a road trip. You repair the tires, the engine, and the carburettor.

What is at stake: The trip. You also manage fuel and the space in the trunk.

Jalopy moves the repair work from a garage to the side of the road. The trip goes through countries of the former Eastern Bloc, in a procedurally generated world.

Drive Beyond Horizons

Developer: Drive Beyond Horizons. Released: Early Access since 2025. Players: Single-player or online co-op (up to 4).

What you repair: Your own vehicle, with parts that you find in buildings.

What is at stake: Your run, in a procedurally generated world that changes each time.

Weather and a day-night cycle make the road harder. Friends can join in their own cars or share one car.

Pacific Drive

Developer: Ironwood Studios. Released: 2024. Players: Single-player.

What you repair: An old station wagon. You repair it on the road and in a garage, where you also add parts and craft equipment.

What is at stake: Your survival in a zone with anomalies, radiation, and storms.

Pacific Drive is where repair becomes survival. You must keep the fuel tank full and the panels intact. A badly damaged car far from the garage is a serious danger.

Barotrauma

Developer: FakeFish and Undertow Games. Released: 2023. Players: Single-player (with bots) or online co-op.

What you repair: A submarine. You repair leaks and operate systems such as the sonar, the reactor, the engines, and the pumps.

What is at stake: The lives of the whole crew, on Europa, a moon of Jupiter.

Barotrauma is a 2D survival horror submarine simulator. It is not about cars at all. But it is the clearest example of repair as survival: if you do not repair the leaks, the submarine floods. Sea monsters also attack the submarine. In single-player, bots fill the empty crew places.

How we picked these games

We looked for games where repair is a main activity, not a side menu. Then we put them in order from calm to deadly. We checked every fact on the store pages and other public sources. We left out games that are not out on PC, except the short note about Car Mechanic Simulator 2026.
